From: Sunan Ibn Majah. Chapter 32, The Chapters on Food
Narrated/Authority of Ibn Umar
From: Sunan Ibn Majah. Chapter 32, The Chapters on Food
Narrated/Authority of Ibn Umar
that Umar entered upon him when he was eating, and he made room for him in the middle of the gathering. He said: Bismillah, then he took a morsel and ate it, then a second. Then he said: "I notice some fat in the food but it is not the fat of the meat." Abdullah said: "O Commander of the Believers! I went out to the marketplace looking for some fatty meat (bones with plenty of meat on them) to buy, but it was expensive, so I bought some lean meat (bones with not much meat on them) for a Dirham, and added a Dirham's worth of ghee. I wanted my family to go through it bone by bone." Umar said: "The Messenger of Allah (saw) never had these two things together; he would eat one and give the other in charity."

From: Sahih Bukhari. Chapter 21, Prayer at Night (Tahajjud)
Narrated/Authority of Anas bin Malik
Sometimes Allah's Apostle would not fast (for so many days) that we thought that he would not fast that month and he sometimes used to fast (for so many days) that we thought he would not leave fasting through-out that month and (as regards his prayer and sleep at night), if you wanted to see him praying at night, you could see him praying and if you wanted to see him sleeping, you could see him sleeping.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Hunayd ibn Abd arRahman ibn Awf from Abu Hurayra that a man broke the fast in Ramadan and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, ordered him to make kaffara by freeing a slave, or fasting two consecutive months, or feeding sixty poor people, and he said, "I can't do it." Someone brought a large basket of dates to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he said, "Take this and give it away as sadaqa." He said, "Messenger of Allah, there is no-ne more needy than I am." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, laughed until his eye-teeth appeared, and then he said, "Eat them."

Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said from Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Habban from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad that A'isha, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Sheep from the zakat were brought past Umar ibn al-Khattab and he saw amongst them a sheep with a large udder, ready to give milk, and he said, 'What is this sheep doing here?' and they replied, 'It is one of the sheep from the zakat.' Umar said, 'The owners did not give this sheep willingly. Do not subject people to trials. Do not take from the muslims those of their animals which are the best food-producers.' "

From: Sahih Muslim. Chapter 1, Faith (Kitab Al Iman)
Narrated/Authority of Abdullah bin Masud
From: Sahih Muslim. Chapter 1, Faith (Kitab Al Iman)
Narrated/Authority of Abdullah bin Masud
that a
man said: Messenger of Allah, which offence is the most
grievous in the eye of Allah? He (the Holy Prophet) replied:
That you associate a partner with Allah (despite the fact)
that He created you. He (the man) said: What next? He (the
Holy Prophet) replied: That you kill your child out of fear
that he would join you in food. He (the inquirer) said
(again): What next? He (the Holy Prophet) replied: That you
commit adultery with the wife of your neighbour. And the
Almighty and Exalted Lord testified it (with this verse): All
those who call not unto another god along with Allah, and slay
not any soul which Allah has forbidden, except in the cause of
justice, nor commit fornication, and he who does this shall
meet a requital of sin (xxv. 68).

From: Sunan Abu Dawood. Chapter 1, Purification (Kitab Al-Taharah)
Narrated/Authority of Abdullah ibn Harith ibn Jaz
One of the Companions of the Prophet (may peace be upon), came upon us in Egypt. When he was narrating traditions in the Mosque of Egypt, I heard him say: I was the seventh or the sixth person in the company of the Messenger of Allah ( peace be upon him) in the house of a person.
In the meantime Bilal came and called him for prayer. He came out and passed by a person who had his fire-pan on the fire. The Messenger of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) said to him: Has the food in the fire-pan been cooked? He replied: Yes, my parents be sacrificed upon you. He then took a piece out of it and continued to chew it until he uttered the first takbir (AllahuAkbar) of the prayer. All this time I was looking at him.

On the 1st of Dhul-Hijja we set out with the intention of performing Hajj. Allah's Apostle said, "Any one who likes to assume the Ihram for 'Umra he can do so. Had I not brought the Hadi with me, I would have assumed the Ihram for 'Umra. "Some of us assumed the Ihram for 'Umra while the others assumed the Ihram for Hajj. I was one of those who assumed the Ihram for 'Umra. I got menses and kept on menstruating until the day of 'Arafat and complained of that to the Prophet . He told me to postpone my 'Umra, undo and comb my hair, and to assure the Ihram of Hajj and I did so. On the right of Hasba, he sent my brother 'Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Bakr with me to At-Tah'im, where I assumed the Ihram for'Umra in lieu of the previous one. Hisham said, "For that ('Umra) no Hadi, fasting or alms were required.

From: Sahih Muslim. Chapter 3, The Book of Menstruation (Kitab Al-Haid)
Narrated/Authority of Thabit
Among the Jews, when a woman
menstruated, they did not dine with her, nor did they live
with them in their houses; so the Companions of the Apostle
(may peace be upon him) asked The Apostle (may peace be upon
him), and Allah, the Exalted revealed:" And they ask you about
menstruation; say it is a pollution, so keep away from woman
during menstruation" to the end (Qur'an, ii. 222). The
Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Do everything
except intercourse. The Jews heard of that and said: This man
does not want to leave anything we do without opposing us in
it. Usaid b. Hudair and Abbad b. Bishr came and said:
Messenger of Allah, the Jews say such and such thing. We
should not have, therefore, any contactwith them (as the Jews
do). The face of the Messenger of Allah (way peace be upon
him) underwent such a change that we thought he was angry with
them, but when they went out, they happened to receive a gift
of milk which was sent to the Apostle of Allah (may peace be
upon him). He (the Holy Prophet) called for them and gave them
drink, whereby they knew that he was not angry with them.

From: Sunan Ibn Majah. Chapter 24, The Chapters on Blood Money
Narrated/Authority of Ziyad bin Sad bin Dumairah
"My father and my paternal uncle, who were present at Hunain with the Messenger of Allah (saw) narrated to me: 'The Prophet (saw) prayed Zuhr, then he sat beneath a tree. Aqra bin Habis, who was the chief of Khindaf, came to him arguing in defense of Muhallim bin Jaththamah. Uyainah bin Hisn came to him demanding vengeance for Amir bin Adbat who was from the tribe of Ashja. The Prophet (saw) said to them: "Will you accept the blood money?'" But they refused. Then a man from Banu Laith, whose name was Mukaital, stood up and said: 'O Messenger of Allah (saw)! By Allah (swt)! This man who was killed in the early days of Islam is like Sheep that come to drink but stones are thrown at them, so the last of them runs away (i.e. ,the murderer should be killed).' The Prophet (saw) said: 'You will have fifty (camels) while we are traveling and fifty (camels) when we return.' So they accepted the blood money." Hasan
