Ibn Umar said, "The Prophet made incumbent on every male or female, free man or slave, the payment of one Sa' of dates or barley as Sadaqat-ul-Fitr (or said Sadaqa-Ramadan)." The people then substituted half Sa' of wheat for that. Ibn Umar used to give dates (as Sadaqat-ul-Fitr). Once there was scarcity of dates in Medina and Ibn Umar gave barley. And Ibn Umar used to give Sadaqat-ul-Fitr for every young and old person. He even used to give on behalf of my children. Ibn Umar used to give Sadaqat-ul-Fitr to those who had been officially appointed for its collection. People used to give Sadaqat-ul-Fitr (even) a day or two before the Eid.

"I arrived in Al-Madinah and said: 'O Allah, make it easy for me to find a righteous companion.' Then I sat with Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, and said: 'I prayed to Allah to help me find a righteous companion.' So tell me a Hadith that you heard from the Messenger of Allah (saw), so that Allah might benefit me from it. He said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) say: "The first thing for which a person will be brought to account will be his Salah. If it is sound then he will have succeeded, be salvaged, but if it is not then he will have lost and be doomed." - (One of the narrators) Hammam said: "I do not know whether this was the words of Qatadah or part of the report." - "If anything is lacking from his obligatory prayers, He will say: 'Look and see whether My slave has any voluntary prayers to make up for what is deficient from his obligatory prayers.' Then all of his deeds will be dealt with in like manner." (Sahih)

In the lifetime of Allah's Apostle (SAW) , Umar gave in charity some of his property, a garden of date-palms called Thamgh. Umar said, "O Allah's Apostle (SAW)! I have some property which I prize highly and I want to give it in charity." The Prophet (SAW); said, "Give it in charity (i.e. as an endowment) with its land and trees on the condition that the land and trees will neither be sold nor given as a present, nor bequeathed, but the fruits are to be spent in charity." So Umar gave it in charity, and it was for Allah's Cause, the emancipation of slaves, for the poor, for guests, for travellers, and for kinsmen. The person acting as its administrator could eat from it reasonably and fairly, and could let a friend of his eat from it provided he had no intention of becoming wealthy by its means.

that the Prophet (saw) said: that the Prophet (saw) said:"When Allah wants to destroy a person, He takes away modesty from him, you will only see him with the wrath of Allah upon him, and he will be hated by people. When you only see him with the wrath of Allah upon him, and hated by people, then honesty will be taken away from him, and when honesty is taken away from him, you will only see him as a traitor who is called such by others. When you only see him as a traitor who is called such by others, then mercy will be taken away from him, and when mercy is taken away from him, you will only see him as rejected and accursed, and when you only see him as rejected and accursed, then the bond of Islam will be taken away from him."

We were one hundred and thirty persons accompanying the Prophet (SAW) who asked us whether anyone of us had food. There was a man who had about a Sa of wheat which was mixed with water then. A very tall mushrik came driving sheep. The Prophet (SAW) asked him, "Will you sell us (a sheep) or give it as a present?" He said, "I will sell you (a sheep)." The Prophet (SAW) bought a sheep and it was slaughtered. The Prophet (SAW) ordered that its liver and other abdominal organs be roasted. By Allah, the Prophet (SAW) gave every person of the one hundred and thirty a piece of that; he gave all those of them who were present; and kept the shares of those who were absent. The Prophet (SAW) then put its meat in two huge basins and all of them ate to their fill, and even then more food was left in the two basins which were carried on the camel (or said something like it).

Yahya said that Malik related from Ibn Shihab that Sunayn Abi Jamila, a man from the Banu Sulaym, found an abandoned child in the time of Umar ibn al-Khattab. Sunayn took him to Umar ibn al-Khattab. He asked, "What has induced you to take this person?" He answered, "I found him lost, so I took him." Umar's advisor said to him, "Amir al-Muminin! He is a man who does good." Umar inquired of him, "Is it so?" He replied, "Yes." Umar ibn al-Khattab said, "Go, he is free, and you have his wala inheritance, and we will provide for him." Yahya said that he heard Malik say, "What is done in our community about an abandoned child is that he is free, and his wala inheritance belongs to the muslims, and they inherit from him and pay his blood money."

that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: On the Day of Resurrection nations will be brought. When I see my nation (Ummah) I will be amazed at their multitudes and (distinguished) form. They will have filled up the plain lands as well as the mountains. Allah will ask me: Are you satisfied? I will say: Yes, 0 my Lord: He will say: Along with these (people), seventy thousand persons (i.e., so many) will enter Paradise without rendering an account. They will be those who neither cure themselves with Ruqya (recitations) nor get themselves branded (cauterized), nor take omens but they instead repose trust in their Lord. Upon this, 'Ukkasha said: Supplicate Allah (that He makes me one among them), the Prophet (SAW) said: 0 Allah! Make him one of them. Another person said: Invoke a blessing for me too (that Allah makes me one among them). The Prophet (SAW) said: 'Ukkasha has preceded you in this matter. (This Hadith is sound and reported by Ibn Hibban in his book) An amulet is something worn around the neck for protection against evil spirits or spell.

"The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: 'When a person performs ablution and washes his hands, his sins exit through his hands. When he washes his face, his sins will exit through his face. When he washes his forearms and wipes his head, his sins will exit through his forearms and head. When he washes his feet, his sins exit through his feet.'" (Hasan)

hat the Prophet said: "Whosoever removes a worldly grief from a believer, Allah will remove from him one of the griefs of the Day of Judgment. Whosoever alleviates [the lot of] a needy person, Allah will alleviate [his lot] in this world and the next. Whosoever shields a Muslim, Allah will shield him in this world and the next. Allah will aid a servant [of His] so long as the servant aids his brother. Whosoever follows a path to seek knowledge therein, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. No people gather together in one of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves, without tranquility descending upon them, mercy enveloping them, the angels surrounding them, and Allah making mention of them amongst those who are with Him. Whosoever is slowed down by his actions will not be hastened forward by his lineage." related by Muslim in these words.

"The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: 'Whoever relieves a Muslim of some worldly distress, Allah will remove him of some of the distress of the Day of Resurrection, and whoever conceals (the faults of) a Muslim, Allah will conceal him (his faults) in this world and on the Day of Resurrection. And whoever relieves the burden from a destitute person, Allah will relieve him in this world and the next. Allah will help His slave so long as His slave helps his brother. Whoever follows a path in pursuit of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. No people gather in one of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and teaching it to one another, but the angels will surround them, tranquility will descend upon them, mercy will envelop them and Allah will mention them to those who are with Him. And whoever is hindered because of his bad deeds, his lineage will be of no avail to him.'" (Sahih)
