From: Sunan Ibn Majah. Chapter 7, The Chapters of Establishing the Prayer and the Sunnah Regarding Them
Narrated/Authority of Amrah
"I asked Aishah: 'How did the Messenger of Allah (saw) perform prayer?' She said: 'When the Prophet (saw) performed ablution, he would put his hand in the vessel and say Bismillah, and he would perform ablution properly. Then he would stand and face the Qiblah. He would say the Takbir raising his hands parallel to his shoulders. Then he would bow, putting his hands on his knees and keeping his arms away from his sides. Then he would raise his head and straighten his back, and he would stand a little longer than your standing. Then he would prostrate, pointing his hands towards the Qiblah, keeping his arms away (from his sides) as much as possible, according to what I have seen. Then he would raise his head and sit on his left foot with his right foot held upright, and he disliked leaning towards his left side.'" Sahih

From: Sunan Ibn Majah. Chapter 28, The Chapters on Hajj
Narrated/Authority of Amr bin Maimun
"We performed Hajj with Umar bin Khattab, and when we wanted to depart from Muzdalifah, he said: 'The idolators used to say: "May the sun rise over you, O Thabir!* So that we may begin our journey (to Mina)," and they did not depart until the sun had risen.' So the Messenger of Allah (saw) differed from them by departing before the sun rose."

Hadith No: 214
From: Imam Malik's Muwatta. Chapter 20, Hajj
Narrated/Authority of
Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said that he had heard that on the day after the day of sacrifice Umar ibn al-Khattab went out a little after the sun had risen and said the takbir, and everyone repeated it after him. Then he went out a second time the same day when the sun was well up and said the takbir, and everyone repeated it after him. Then he went out a third time after mid-day and said the takbir, and everyone repeated it after him until it resounded from group to group until it reached the House and people knew that Umar had left to throw the stones. Malik said, "What we do here (in Madina) is to say the takbir during the days of tashriq after each prayer. The first time is when the imam and everyone with him says the takbir after the dhuhr prayer on the day of sacrifice, and the last is when the imam and everyone with him says the takbir after subh on the last of the days of tashriq, after which he stops saying the takbir." Malik said, "The takbirs during the days of tashriq should be done by both men and women, whether they are in a group or by themselves, at Mina or elsewhere, and all of the takbirs should be done. In this everyone follows the imam of the hajj and the people at Mina, because when everyone returns (to Makka) and comes out of ihram they keep the same people as imams while out of ihram (as they did when they were in ihram). Some one who is not doing hajj does not follow them except for the takbirs during the days of tashriq." Malik said, "The 'limited number of days' are the days of tashriq."

Ukaz, Majanna and Dhul-Majaz were markets in the Pre-lslamic period. When the people embraced Islam they considered it a sin to trade there. So, the following Holy Verse came: "There is no harm for you if you seek of the bounty of your Lord (Allah) in the Hajj season." (2.198) Ibn Abbas recited it like this.

Hadith No: 167
From: Sahih Bukhari. Chapter 4, Ablutions (Wudu')
Narrated/Authority of Ubaid Ibn Juraij
I asked Abdullah bin Umar, "O Abu Abdur-Rahman! I saw you doing four things which I never saw being done by anyone of your companions?" Abdullah bin Umar said, "What are those, O Ibn Juraij?" I said, "I never saw you touching any corner of the Kaba except these (two) facing south (Yemen) and I saw you wearing shoes made of tanned leather and dyeing your hair with Henna; (a kind of dye). I also noticed that whenever you were in Makkah, the people assume ihram on seeing the new moon crescent (1st of Dhul-Hijja) while you did not assume the Ihlal (Ihram). (Ihram is also called Ihlal which means 'Loud calling' because a Muhrim has to recite Talbiya aloud when assuming the state of Ihram) till the 8th of Dhul-Hijja (Day of Tarwiya). Abdullah replied, "Regarding the corners of Kaba, I never saw Allah's Apostle touching except those facing south (Yemen) and regarding the tanned leather shoes, no doubt I saw Allah's Apostle (saw) wearing non-hairy shoes and he used to perform ablution while wearing the shoes (i.e. wash his feet and then put on the shoes). So I love to wear similar shoes. And about the dyeing of hair with Henna; no doubt I saw Allah's Apostle (saw) dyeing his hair with it and that is why I like to dye (my hair with it). Regarding Ihlal, I did not see Allah's Apostle assuming Ihlal till he set out for Hajj (on the 8th of Dhul-Hijja)."
