(who fought in twelve Ghazawat in the company of the Prophet). I heard four things from the Prophet and they won my admiration. He said;
1. "No lady should travel on a journey of two days except with her husband or a Dhi-Mahram;
2. "No fasting is permissible on the two days of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha;
3. "No prayer (may be offered) after the morning compulsory prayer until the sun rises; and no prayer after the 'Asr prayer till the sun sets;
4. "One should travel only for visiting three Masajid (Mosques): Masjid-ul-Haram (Makkah), Masjid-ul-Aqsa (Jerusalem), and this (my) Mosque (at Medina)."

From: Sahih Bukhari. Chapter 42, Loans, Payment of Loans, Freezing of Property and Bankruptcy
Narrated/Authority of Abdullah bin Umar
I heard Allah's Apostle (SAW) saying, "Everyone of you is a guardian, and responsible for what is in his custody. The ruler is a guardian of his subjects and responsible for them; a husband is a guardian of his family and is responsible for it; a lady is a guardian of her husband's house and is responsible for it, and a servant is a guardian of his master's property and is responsible for it." I heard that from Allah's Apostle (SAW) and I think that the Prophet (SAW) also said, "A man is a guardian of is father's property and is responsible for it, so all of you are guardians and responsible for your wards and things under your care."

The wives of the Prophet used to go to Al-Manasi, a vast open place (near Baqia at Medina) to answer the call of nature at night. 'Umar used to say to the Prophet "Let your wives be veiled," but Allah's Apostle did not do so. One night Sauda bint Zam'a the wife of the Prophet went out at 'Isha' time and she was a tall lady. 'Umar addressed her and said, "I have recognized you, O Sauda." He said so, as he desired eagerly that the verses of Al-Hijab (the observing of veils by the Muslim women) may be revealed. So Allah revealed the verses of "Al-Hijab" (A complete body cover excluding the eyes).

From: Sahih Bukhari. Chapter 41, Distribution of Water
Narrated/Authority of Husain bin Ali
From: Sahih Bukhari. Chapter 41, Distribution of Water
Narrated/Authority of Husain bin Ali
Ali bin Abi Talib said: "I got a she-camel as my share of the war booty on the day (of the battle) of Badr, and Allah's Apostle (SAW) gave me another she-camel. I let both of them kneel at the door of one of the Ansar, intending to carry Eidhkhir on them to sell it and use its price for my wedding banquet on marrying Fatima. A goldsmith from Bam Qainqa' was with me. Hamza bin 'Abdul-Muttalib was in that house drinking wine and a lady singer was reciting: "O Hamza! (Kill) the (two) fat old she camels (and serve them to your guests)."
So Hamza took his sword and went towards the two she-camels and cut off their humps and opened their flanks and took a part of their livers." (I said to Ibn Shihab, "Did he take part of the humps?" He replied, "He cut off their humps and carried them away.") 'Ali further said, "When I saw that dreadful sight, I went to the Prophet (SAW) and told him the news. The Prophet (SAW) came out in the company of Zaid bin Haritha who was with him then, and I too went with them. He went to Hamza and spoke harshly to him. Hamza looked up and said, 'Aren't you only the slaves of my forefathers?' The Prophet (SAW) retreated and went out. This incident happened before the prohibition of drinking (alcoholic drinks)."

From: Sahih Muslim. Chapter 1, Faith (Kitab Al Iman)
Narrated/Authority of Abdullah bin Umar
From: Sahih Muslim. Chapter 1, Faith (Kitab Al Iman)
Narrated/Authority of Abdullah bin Umar
that the
Messenger of Allah observed: O womenfolk, you should give
charity and ask much forgiveness for I saw you in bulk amongst
the dwellers of Hell. A wise lady among them said: Why is it,
Messenger of Allah, that our folk is in bulk in Hell? Upon
this the Holy Prophet observed: You curse too much and are
ungrateful to your spouses. I have seen none lacking in common
sense and failing in religion but (at the same time) robbing
the wisdom of the wise, besides you. Upon this the woman
remarked: What is wrong with our common sense and with
religion? He (the Holy Prophet) observed: Your lack of common
sense (can be well judged from the fact) that the evidence of
two women is equal to one man, that is a proof of the lack of
common sense, and you spend some nights (and days) in which
you do not offer prayer and in the month of Ramadan (during
the days) you do not observe fast, that is a failing in
religion. This hadith has been narrated on the authority of
Abu Tahir with this chain of transmitters.

From: Sahih Bukhari. Chapter 52, Conditions
Narrated/Authority of Marwan bin Al-Hakam and Al-Miswar bin Makhrama
From: Sahih Bukhari. Chapter 52, Conditions
Narrated/Authority of Marwan bin Al-Hakam and Al-Miswar bin Makhrama
from the companions of Allah's Apostle (SAW): When Suhail bin Amr agreed to the Treaty (of Hudaibiya), one of the things he stipulated then, was that the Prophet (SAW) should return to them (i.e. the Al-Mushrikun [pagans]) anyone coming to him from their side, even if he was a Muslim; and would not interfere between them and that person. The Muslims did not like this condition and got disgusted with it. Suhail did not agree except with that condition. So, the Prophet (SAW) agreed to that condition and returned Abu Jandal to his father Suhail bin Amr. Thenceforward the Prophet (SAW) returned everyone in that period (of truce) even if he was a Muslim. During that period some believing women emigrants including Um Kulthum bint Uqba bin Abu Muait who came to Allah's Apostle (SAW) and she was a young lady then. Her relative came to the Prophet (SAW) and asked him to return her, but the Prophet (SAW) did not return her to them for Allah had revealed the following Verse regarding women:
"O you who believe! When the believing women come to you as emigrants. Examine them, Allah knows best as to their belief, then if you know them for true believers, Send them not back to the unbelievers, (for) they are not lawful (wives) for the disbelievers, Nor are the unbelievers lawful (husbands) for them...." One day while the Prophet was sitting in the company of some people, (The angel) Gabriel came and asked, "What is faith?" Allah's Apostle replied, 'Faith is to believe in Allah, His angels, (the) meeting with Him, His Apostles, and to believe in Resurrection." Then he further asked, "What is Islam?" Allah's Apostle replied, "To worship Allah Alone and none else, to offer prayers perfectly to pay the compulsory charity (Zakat) and to observe fasts during the month of Ramadan." Then he further asked, "What is Ihsan (perfection)?" Allah's Apostle replied, "To worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you cannot achieve this state of devotion then you must consider that He is looking at you." Then he further asked, "When will the Hour be established?" Allah's Apostle replied, "The answerer has no better knowledge than the questioner. But I will inform you about its portents.
1. When a slave (lady) gives birth to her master.
2. When the shepherds of black camels start boasting and competing with others in the construction of higher buildings. And the Hour is one of five things which nobody knows except Allah.
The Prophet then recited: "Verily, with Allah (Alone) is the knowledge of the Hour--." (31. 34) Then that man (Gabriel) left and the Prophet asked his companions to call him back, but they could not see him. Then the Prophet said, "That was Gabriel who came to teach the people their religion." Abu 'Abdullah said: He (the Prophet) considered all that as a part of faith.

Hafsa bint Sirin said, "On Eid we used to forbid our girls to go out for Eid prayer. A lady came and stayed at the palace of Bani Khalaf and I went to her. She said, 'The husband of my sister took part in twelve holy battles along with the Prophet and my sister was with her husband in six of them. My sister said that they used to nurse the sick and treat the wounded. Once she asked, 'O Allah's Apostle! If a woman has no veil, is there any harm if she does not come out (on Eid day)?' The Prophet said, 'Her companion should let her share her veil with her, and the women should participate in the good deeds and in the religious gatherings of the believers.' " Hafsa added, "When Um-'Atiya came, I went to her and asked her, 'Did you hear anything about so-and-so?' Um-Atlya said, 'Yes, let my father be sacrificed for the Prophet (p.b.u.h). (And whenever she mentioned the name of the Prophet she always used to say, 'Let my father be' sacrificed for him). He said, 'Virgin mature girls staying often screened (or said, 'Mature girls and virgins staying often screened - Aiyub is not sure as which was right) and menstruating women should come out (on the Eid day). But the menstruating women should keep away from the Musalla. And all the women should participate in the good deeds and in the religious gatherings of the believers'." Hafsa said, "On that I said to Um-Atiya, 'Also those who are menstruating?' " Um-Atiya replied, "Yes. Do they not present themselves at 'Arafat and elsewhere?"
