Anas bin Malik said, "The Prophet used to visit all his wives in a round, during the day and night and they were eleven in number." I asked Anas, "Had the Prophet the strength for it?" Anas replied, "We used to say that the Prophet was given the strength of thirty (men)." And Sa'id said on the authority of Qatada that Anas had told him about nine wives only (not eleven).

The Prophet said, "Get down and mix Sawiq with water for me; when you see night falling from this side, the fasting person should break his fast."

"We were in the mosque one Friday night when a man said: 'If a man finds a man with his wife and kills him, will you kill him, and if he speaks, will you flog him. By Allah I will mention that to the Prophet (saw). So he mentioned that to the Prophet (saw), and Allah revealed the Verses of Li'an. Then after that the man came and accused his wife, so the Prophet (saw) told them to go through the procedure of Li'an and he said: 'Perhaps she will give birth to a black child.’ Then she gave birth to a black child with curly hair."

Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that al-Qasim ibn Muhammad and Nafi, the mawla of Abdullah ibn Umar said, "You cannot do itikaf unless you are fasting, because of what Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, says in His Book, 'And eat and drink until the white thread becomes clear to you from the black thread of dawn, then complete the fast until night-time, and do not have intercourse with them while you are doing itikaf in mosques,' (Sura 2 ayat 187). Allah only mentions itikaf together with fasting."
Malik said, "That is what we go by here."

from his father, that he heard Talhah bin Ubaidullah say: "A man from the people of Najd came to the Messenger of Allah (saw) with unkempt hair. We could hear him talking loudly but we could not understand what he was saying until he came closer. He was asking about Islam. The Messenger of Allah (saw) said to him: 'Five prayers each day and night.' He said: 'Do I have to do anything else?' He said: 'No, unless you do it voluntarily.' He said: 'And fasting the month of Ramadan.' He said: 'Do I have to do anything else?' He said: 'No, unless you do it voluntarily.' And the Messenger of Allah (saw) mentioned Zakah to him, and he said: 'Do I have to do anything else?' he said: 'No, unless you do it voluntarily.' The man left saying: 'By Allah, I will not do any more than this or any less.' The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: 'He will achieve salvation, if he is speaking the truth.'" (Sahih)

"When the Messenger of Allah (saw) came to Al-Madinah, the people rushed towards him and it was said: 'The Messenger of Allah (saw) has come!' I came along with the people to see him, and when I looked at the face of the Messenger of Allah (saw), I realized that his face was not the face of a liar. The first thing he said was: "O people, spread (the greeting of) Salam, offer food to people and pray at night when people are sleeping, you will enter Paradise in peace."

Narrated/Authority of Abu Huraira
Allah's Apostle said, "Satan puts three knots at the back of the head of any of you if he is asleep. On every knot he reads and exhales the following words, 'The night is long, so stay asleep.' When one wakes up and remembers Allah, one knot is undone; and when one performs ablution, the second knot is undone, and when one prays the third knot is undone and one gets up energetic with a good heart in the morning; otherwise one gets up lazy and with a mischievous heart."

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr ibn Muhammad ibn Amr ibn Hazm from Abd al-Malik ibn Abi Bakr ibn Abd ar-Rahman ibn al-Harith ibn Hisham al-Makhzumi from his father that when the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, married Umm Salama and then spent the night with her, he said to her, "You are not being humbled in your right. If you wish, I will stay with you for seven nights as I stayed seven nights with the others. If you wish, I will stay with you for three nights, and then visit the others in turn." She said, "Stay three nights."

that when the
Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) sent Mu'adh towards
Yemen (as governor) he said to him: Verily you would reach a
community of the people of the Book, the very first thing to
which you should call them is the worship of Allah, may His
Glory be Magnificent, and when they become fully aware of
Allah, instruct them that He has enjoined five prayers on them
during the day and the night, and when the begin observing it,
then instruct them that verily Allah has made Zakat obligatory
for them which would be collected from the wealthy amongst
them and distributed to their needy ones, and when they submit
to it, then collect it from them and avoid (the temptation) of
selecting the best (items) of their riches.
