that he reached Rabadhah when the Iqamah for the prayer had already been given, and there was a slave leading them in prayer. It was said: "This is Abu Dharr," so he (the slave) started to move back. But Abu Dharr said: "My close friend (i.e., the Prophet (saw)) told me to listen and obey, even if (the leader was) an Ethiopian slave with amputated limbs."

From: Sahih Bukhari. Chapter 48, Manumission of Slaves
Narrated/Authority of Abu Huraira
On my way to the Prophet (SAW) I was reciting: 'What a long tedious tiresome night! Nevertheless, it has saved us From the land of Kufr (disbelief).' I had a slave who ran away from me on the way. When I went to the Prophet (SAW) and gave the pledge of allegiance for embracing Islam, the slave showed up while I was still with the Prophet (SAW) who remarked, "O Abu Huraira! Here is your slave!" I said, "I manumit him for Allah's Sake," and so I freed him.

The Prophet (SAW) said, "Whoever manumits his share of a jointly possessed slave, it is imperative for him to get that slave manumitted completely by paying the remaining price, and if he does not have sufficient money to manumit him, then the price of the slave should be estimated justly, and he is to be allowed to work and earn the amount that will manumit him (without overburdening him)".

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar said, "When the slave divorces his wife twice, she is haram for him until she has married another husband, whether she is free or a slave. The idda of a free woman is three menstrual periods, and the idda of a slave-girl is two periods.

Allah's Apostle (SAW) said, "Whoever frees his share of a common slave and he has sufficient money to free him completely, should let its price be estimated by a just man and give his partners the price of their shares and manumit the slave; otherwise (i.e. if he has not sufficient money) he manumits the slave partially."

Yahya related to me from Malik that he heard Rabia ibn Abd ar-Rahman say that a slave could marry four women.
Malik said, "This is the best of what I have heard about the matter."
Malik said, "The slave differs with the muhallil if the slave is given permission by his master for his ex-wife. If his master does not give him permission, he separates them. The muhallil is separated in any case if he intends to make the woman halal by marriage."
Malik said, "When a slave is owned by his wife or a husband owns his wife, the possession of each of them is rendered void without divorce. If a man, for instance, is married to a slave-girl, and then he buys her, he must divorce her as a matter of course. They can then re-marry. If they re-marry afterwards, that separation was not divorce."
Malik said, "When a slave is freed by his wife who owns him and she is in the idda-period from him, they can only return to each other after she has made another marriage."

(One day) Abu Huraira and Abu Said were sitting with Allah's Messenger (PBUH) who said:
When a slave says: There is no God but Allah and Allah is the Most-Great. Allah remarks: My slave has spoken the truth. Indeed, there is no god except Me and I am All-Great. When he says: There is no God but Allah and He is the only One. Allah remarks: My slave has spoken the truth. Indeed, there is no God except Me and I am the One. When he says: There is no God but Allah and there is no associate with Him. Allah remarks: My slave has spoken the truth. There is no God except Me and I have no partner. When he says: There is no God but Allah. To Him belongs the sovereignty and to Him is due all praise. Allah remarks: My slave has spoken the truth. There is no God except Me. To Me belongs the kingdom and to Me is due all praise. When he says: There is no God but Allah and there
is no power or might except with Him. Allah remarks: My slave has spoken the truth. There is no God except Me and the power and might belong to Me.

The Prophet (SAW) said, "He who manumits his share of a slave and has money sufficient to free the remaining portion of that slave's price (justly estimated) then he should manumit him (by giving the rest of his price to the other co-owners)." Nafi added, "Otherwise the slave is partially free." Ayyub is not sure whether the last statement was said by Nafi or it was a part of the Hadith.
