"A case was brought to 'Ali bin Abu Talib when he was in Yemen, concerning three men who had intercourse with a woman during one period of being free from menses. He asked two of them: "Do you affirm that this child belongs to (the third man)?" And they said: "No." He asked another two of them: "Do you affirm that this child belongs to (the third man)?" And they said: "No." Every time he asked two of them whether they affirmed that the child belonged to the third, they would say no. So he cast lots between them, and attributed the child to the one whose name was chosen in this manner, and obliged him to pay two thirds of the Diyah. The Prophet (saw) was told of this, and he smiled so broadly that his back teeth became visible.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said that Said ibn al-Musayyab was asked who was obliged to pay the rent for a woman whose husband divorced her while she was in a leased house. Said ibn al-Musayyab said, "Her husband is obliged to pay it." Someone asked, "what if her husband does not have it?" He said, "Then she must pay it." Someone asked, "And if she does not have it?" He said, "Then the Amir must pay it."

Umar bin Khattab addressed us at Jabiyah and said: "The Messenger of Allah (saw) stood up among us as I stand among you, and said: 'Honor my Companions for my sake, then those who come after them, then those who come after them. Then lying will prevail until a man will give testimony without being asked to do so, and he will swear an oath without being asked to do so.' "

From: Sahih Bukhari. Chapter 49, Gifts, The superiority of giving and extortion of
Narrated/Authority of Abu Huraira
A man came to Allah's Apostle (SAW) and said, "I am ruined." The Prophet (SAW) asked, "What do you mean?" He said, "I had a sexual intercourse with my wife during Ramadan (while fasting)." The Prophet (SAW) asked him, "Can you manumit a slave?" He replied in the negative. He then asked him, "Can you fast for two successive months continuously" He replied in the negative. The Prophet (SAW) then asked him, "Can you feed sixty poor persons?" He replied in the negative. In the meantime an Ansari came with a basket full of dates. The Prophet (SAW) said to the man, "Take it and give it in charity (as an expiation of your sin)." The man said "Should I give it to some people who are poorer than we, O Allah's Apostle (SAW)? By Him Who has sent you with the Truth, there is no family between Medina's two mountains poorer than we." Allah's Apostle (SAW) told him to take it and provide his family with it."

From: 110 Hadith Qudsi. Chapter 1, 110 Ahadith Qudsi (Sacred Hadith)
Narrated/Authority of Masruq
We asked Abdullah bin Masud (R.A) about this verse:
"Think not of those who have been killed in the way
of Allah as dead; rather they are alive with their Lord
being provided with sustenance." (3:169)
He (Abdullah bin Masud R.A) said: We asked the
Prophet (SAW) the meaning of this verse. So he explained it like this:
Their souls are inside some green birds beside lanterns
suspended from the Divine Throne roaming freely in
Paradise wherever they like. Then they take shelter at those
lanterns. Once their Lord looked at them and said: Do you
want anything else? They said: What more shall we want?
We roam freely in Paradise as we like. Allah asked them the
same question three times. When they felt that they would
not be spared from being asked, they said: 0 Lord! We like
You to put back our souls into our bodies so that we may be
killed in Your way once again. As Allah saw that they had
no wish, they would be let for joy in heaven.
(This Hadith is sound and reported by Bukhari).
