From: Sunan Ibn Majah. Chapter 1, The Book of the Sunnah
Narrated/Authority of Abdullah bin Masud
"The Messenger of Allah (saw), the true and truly inspired one, told us that: 'The creation of one of you is put together in his mother's womb for forty days, then it becomes a clot for a similar length of time, then it becomes a chewed lump of flesh for a similar length of time. Then Allah sends the angel to him and commands him to write down four things. He says, "Write down his deeds, his life span, his provision, and whether he is doomed (destined for Hell) or blessed (destined for Paradise)." By the One in Whose Hand is my soul! One of you may do the deeds of the people of Paradise until there is no more than a forearm's length between him and it, then the decree overtakes him and he does the deeds of the people of Hell until he enters therein. And one of you may do the deeds of the people of Hell until there is no more than a forearm's length between him and it, then the decree overtakes him and he does the deeds of the people of Paradise until he enters therein." (Sahih)

"We were sitting with the Prophet (saw) when a man came to him whose clothes were intensely white and whose hair was intensely black; no signs of travel could be seen upon him, and none of us recognized him. He sat down facing the Prophet (saw), with his knees touching his, and he put his hands on his thighs, and said: 'O Muhammad (SAW), what is Islam?' He said: 'To testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and that I am the Messenger of Allah; to establish regular prayer; to pay Zakat; to fast in Ramadan; and to perform Hajj to the House (the Ka'bah).' He said: 'You have spoken the truth.' We were amazed by him: He asked a question, then told him that he had spoken the truth. Then he said: 'O Muhammad (SAW), what is Iman faith?' He said: 'To believe in Allah, His Angels, His Messengers, His Books, the Last Day, and the Divine Decree (Qadar), both the good of it and the bad of it.' He said: 'You have spoken the truth.' We were amazed by him: He asked a question, then told him that he had spoken the truth. Then he said: 'O Muhammad (SAW), what is Ihsan (right action, goodness, sincerity)? He said: 'To worship Allah as if you see Him, for even though you do not see Him, He sees you.' He asked: 'When will the Hour be?' He said: 'The one who is being asked about it does not know more than the one who is asking.' He asked: 'Then what are its signs?' He said: 'When the slave woman gives birth to her mistress' (Waki' said: "This means when non-Arabs will give birth to Arabs") 'and when you see the barefoot, naked, destitute shepherds competing in constructing tall buildings.' The Prophet (saw) met me three days later and asked me: 'Do you know who that man was?' I said: 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said: 'That was Jibril, who came to you to teach you your religion.'" (Sahih)

Allah's Messenger (PBUH) said: On the Day of Resurrection, Nuh (PBUH) will be called. He will say: I do respond and am at Your pleasure, O Lord! Allah will ask: Did you convey Our Message of Monotheism to your people? Nuh (Noah [AS]) will say: Yes. Then his nation will be asked: Did he convey the Divine Message to you? They will say: No warner came to us. Allah will say to Nuh (AS): Who will bear witness in your favour? He will say: Muhammad (SAW) and his followers. So they will all testify that he had conveyed the (Divine) Message (to his people). And the Messenger (PBUH) will also be a witness to you according to the Statement of Allah (SWT): "Thus We have made you [true Muslims - real believers of Islamic Monotheism, true followers of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and his Sunnah (legal ways)], a just (and the best) nation, that you be witnesses over mankind and the Messenger (Muhammad (SAW)) will be witness upon you". (2:143) (This Hadith is sound and reported by Bukhari, Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah).

that the
Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Ask me (about
matters pertaining to religion), but they (the Companions of
the Holy Prophet) were too much overawed out of profound
respect for him to ask him (anything). In the meanwhile a man
came there, and sat near his knees and said: Messenger of
Allah, what is al-lslam? to which he (the Holy Prophet)
replied: You must not associate anything with Allah, and
establish prayer, pay the poor-rate (Zakat) and observe (the
fasts) of Ramadan. He said: You (have) told the truth. He
(again) said: Messenger of Allah, what is al-Iman (the faith)?
He (the Holy Prophet) said: That you affirm your faith in
Allah, His angels, His Books, His meeting, His Apostles, and
that you believe in Resurrection and that you believe in Qadr
(Divine Decree) in all its entirety, He (the inquirer) said:
You (have) told the truth. He (again) said: Messenger of
Allah, what is al-Ihsan? Upon this he (the Holy Prophet) said:
(Al-Ihsan implies) that you fear Allah as if you are seeing
Him, and though you see Him not, verily He is seeing you. He
(the inquirer) said: You (have) told the truth. He (the
inquirer) said: When there would be the hour (of Doom)? (Upon
this) he (the Holy Prophet said: The one who is being asked
about it is no better informed than the inquirer himself. I,
however, narrate some of its signs (and these are): when you
see a slave (woman) giving birth to her master, that is one
of the signs of (Doom); when you see barefooted, naked, deaf
and dumb (ignorant and foolish persons) as the rulers of the
earth, that is one of the signs of the Doom. And when you see
the shepherds of black camels exult in buildings, that is one
of the signs of Doom. The (Doom) is one of the five things
(wrapped) in the unseen. No one knows them except Allah. Then
(the Holy Prophet) recited (the folowing verse): "Verily
Allah! with Him alone is the knowledge of the hour and He it
is Who sends down the rain and knows that which is in the
wombs and no person knows whatsoever he shall earn on morrow
and a person knows not in whatsoever land he shall die. Verily
Allah is Knowing, Aware. He (the narrator, Abu Huraira) said:
Then the person stood up an (made his way). The Messenger of
Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Bring him back to me. He
was searched for, but they (the Companions of the Holy
Prophet) could not find him. The Messenger of Allah (may peace
be upon him) thereupon said: He was Gabriel and he wanted to
teach you (things pertaining to religion) when you did not ask
(them yourselves).

attributing it to the Prophet (saw): "The stronger believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, although both are good. Strive to seek that which will benefit you and do not feel helpless. If something overwhelms you, then say: Qaddarallah, wa ma shaa faal (It is the decree of Allah and what He wills He does). And beware of (saying) If only, for If only opens the door to Satan."

Ukaz, Majanna and Dhul-Majaz were market-places in the Pre-lslamic period of ignorance. When Islam came, Muslims felt that marketing there might be a sin. So, the Divine Inspiration came: "There is no harm for you to seek the bounty of your Lord (in the seasons of Hajj)." (2.198) Ibn 'Abbas recited the Verse in this way.
