from Abdullah, The Prophet (SAW) said, "Whoever takes a false oath in order to grab another man's (or his brother's) property, then Allah will be angry with him when he will meet him." Then Allah confirmed this by revealing the Divine Verse: "Verily! Those who purchase a little gain at the cost of Allah's Covenant and their oaths . . . Will get painful punishment." (3.77)
Al-Ashath met me and asked, "What did Abdullah tell you today?" I said, "So and so." He said, "The Verse was revealed regarding my case."

"Abu Bakr stood up and praised and glorified Allah, then he said: 'O people, you recite this Verse - "O you who believe! Take care of your own selves. If you follow the (right) guidance no hurt can come to you from those who are in error."[5:105] - but I heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) say: 'If people see some evil but do not change it, soon Allah will send His punishment upon them all.'" (One of the narrators) Abu Usamah repeated: "Indeed I heard that Messenger of Allah (saw) say."

Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa that his father said, "There were two men in Madina, one of whom dug graves with a niche in the side wall for the body, and the other who did not, and they said, 'Whichever one comes first can do the job,' and the one who dug graves with a niche came first and dug the Messenger of Allah's grave, may Allah bless him and grant him peace."

Allah's Apostle (SAW) said, "There are three persons whom Allah will neither talk to nor look at, nor purify from (the sins), and they will have a painful punishment. (They are):
(1) A man possessed superfluous water on a way and he withheld it from the travelers.
(2) a man who gives a Baia (pledge of allegiance) to a Muslim ruler and gives it only for worldly gains. If the ruler gives him what he wants, he remains obedient to it, otherwise he does not abide by it, and
(3) a man bargains with another man after the Asr prayer and the latter takes a false oath in the Name of Allah claiming that he has been offered so much for the thing and the former (believes him and) buys it."

that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said: "A man went to extremes in committing sins. When death came to him, he left instructions to his sons, saying: When I die, burn me, then grind me into powder, then scatter me in the wind and in the sea, for by Allah, if my Lord has power over me, He will subject me to a punishment that He has never subjected anyone to. So they did that to him, then (Allah) said to the earth: Return what you have taken, and there he was, standing. He said to him: What made you do what you have done? He said: Fear of You, O Lord. So He forgave him because of that (fear)."

that Zayd ibn Khalid Juhanni sent someone to Abu Juhaym to learn of the rules applying to one who walks ahead of those who are engaged in salah. Abu Juhaym said that Allah's Messenger (SAW) said, "If one who passes in front of another who is praying knew the punishment against what he does then he would prefer to stand still for forty years rather than pass in front of him." Abu an-Nadr, a narrator said, "I do not know if he said forty days or months or years."

Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said from an-Numan ibn Murra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said,"What about drunkenness, stealing and adultery? "That was before anything had been revealed about them. They said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "They are excesses and in them is a punishment. And the worst of thieves is the one who steals his prayer." They said, "How does he steal his prayer, Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "He does not do ruku or sajda properly."
