from his father, that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said during a journey: "Who will watch out for dawn for us, so that we do not sleep and miss the prayer?" Bilal said: 'I will.' He turned to face the direction where the sun would rise, but they fell fast asleep until the heat of the sun woke them up, then they got up. He said: 'Perform Wudu.' Then Bilal called the Adhan and he prayed two Rakahs, and they prayed the two (Sunnah) Rakahs of Fajr, then they prayed Fajr." (Sahih)

I stayed overnight in the house of my aunt Maimuna bint Al-Harith (the wife of the Prophet ) while the Prophet was there with her during her night turn. The Prophet offered the 'Isha' prayer (in the mosque), returned home and after having prayed four Rakat, he slept. Later on he got up at night and then asked whether the boy (or he used a similar word) had slept? Then he got up for the prayer and I stood up by his left side but he made me stand to his right and offered five Rakat followed by two more Rakat. Then he slept and I heard him snoring and then (after a while) he left for the (Fajr) prayer.

from his grandfather, Sayyidina Qays that as Allah's Meessenger (SAW) came out, the iqamah of the (fajr) salah was called. So, he offered the prayer with him. Then, the Prophet (SAW) turned back and saw him offer salah. He said, O Qays! Wait! will you pray two salah together? He said, "O Messenger of Allah! I had not offered the two rakaat (sunnah) of fajr." The Prophet (SAW) said, "Then there is no harm." [Ahmed 23821]

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Urwa ibn az-Zubayr from A'isha, umm al-muminin, that she took Hafsa ibn Abd ar-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr as-Siddiq into her house when she had entered the third period of her idda. Ibn Shihab said, "That was mentioned to Amra bint Abd ar-Rahman, and she said that Urwa had spoken the truth and people had argued with A'isha about it. They said that Allah, the Blessed, the Exalted, said in His Book, 'Three quru.' A'isha said, 'You spoke the truth. Do you know what quru are? Quru are times of becoming pure after menstruation.' "

I stayed in the house of 'A'isha and had a wet dream (and perceived its effect on my garment), so (in the morning) I dipped both (the clothes) in water. This (act of mine) was watched by a maid-servant of A'isha and she informed her. She (Hadrat A'isha) sent me a message: Whatprompted you to act like this with your clothes? He (the narrator) said: I told that I saw in a dream what a sleeper sees. She said: Did you find (any mark of the fluid) on your clothes? I said: No. She said: Had you found anything you should have washed it. Incase I found that (semen) on the garment of the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) dried up, I scraped it off with my nails.

"Sayyar bin Salamah, narrated to us, he said: 'I heard my father ask Abu Barzah about the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (saw).' I said: 'Did you really hear him?' He said: 'I heard my father ask about the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (saw).' He said: 'He would not mind if he delayed it - meaning Isha until midnight, and he did not like to sleep before it or speak after it.'" Shubah said: "Then I met him later on and asked him. He said: 'He used to pray Zuhr when the sun had passed its zenith, and (he would pray) Asr and a man could walk to the farthest point in Al-Madinah and the sun would still be clear and hot. And Maghrib, I do not know the time he mentioned.' After that I met him and asked him, and he said: 'He used to pray Fajr then after the prayer a man could regarding it, sitting next to him, look at the face of someone he knew and he could recognize it.' He said: And he used to recite in it between sixty and one hundred (verses).'" (Sahih)

that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said: "If the people knew what (virtue) there was in the call to prayer and the first row, and they could not find any way to get to do that* other than by drawing lots, they would do that. If they knew what (virtue) there was in coming early to prayer, they would compete to be first in the Masjid. If they knew what (virtue) there was in Al-Atamah and Subh, they would come to them even if they had to crawl." (Sahih) Indicating the two mentioned items: that is the call to prayer and praying in the first row.

Yahya related to me from Malik, from AIqama ibn Abi AIqama, from his mother, that A'isha, umm al-muminin, used to camp on the plain of Arafa at a place called Namira, and then later she changed to another place called al-Arak. She said, ''A'isha, and those who were with her, would say the talbiya while she was at the place where they were camping, and then, when she had mounted and set out towards the place of standing, she would stop doing so." She continued, "A'isha used to do umra when she was in Makka after the hajj was over, in the month of Dhu'l-Hijja.Then she stopped doing that, and instead would set out before the new moon of Muharram for al-Juhfa, where she would stay until she saw the new moon, and then, when she had seen the new moon, she would go into ihram to do umra."

It was narrated that Bilal came to the Prophet (saw) to call him for the Fajr prayer, and was told: "He is sleeping." He said: "As-salatu khairum minan-nawm, As-salatu khairum minan-nawm (The prayer is better than sleep, the prayer is better than sleep). These words were approved of in the Adhan for the Fajr, and that is how it remained. (Daif)

If they knew what (virtue) there is in coming early for the prayer, they would compete in doing so.
