Narrated/Authority of Muadh bin Jabal
who said:
I said: "O Messenger of Allah, tell me of an act which will take me into Paradise and will keep me away from Hell fire." He said: "You have asked me about a major matter, yet it is easy for him for whom Allah Almighty makes it easy. You should worship Allah, associating nothing with Him, you should perform the prayers, you should pay the zakat, you should fast in Ramadan, and you should make the pilgrimage to the House." Then he said:" Shall I not show you the gates of goodness ? Fasting [which] is a shield, charity [which] extigueshes sin as water extebgueshes fire; and the praying of a man in the deapth of night." Then he recited : "Who forsake their beds to cry unto their Lord in fear and hope, and spend of that We have bestowed on them. No soul knoweth what is kept hid for them of joy, as a reward for what they used to do". (quran, verse) Then he said: " Shall I not tell you of the peak of the matter, its pillar, and its topmost part?" I said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "The peak of the matter is Islam; the pillar is prayer; and its topmost part is jihad." Then he said: "Shall I not tell you of the controling of all that ?" I said:"Yes, O Messenger of Allah", and he took hold of his tongue and said: "Restrain this." I said: "O Prophet of Allah, will what we say be held against us ?" He said: "May your mother be bereaved of you, Muadh ! Is there anything that topples people on their faces - or he said on their noses into Hell-fire other than the jests of their tongues ?"
related by Al-Tirmithi, who said it was a fine and true hadlth.

From: Sahih Bukhari. Chapter 51, Peacemaking (Reconciliation)
Narrated/Authority of Al-Hasan Al-Basri
From: Sahih Bukhari. Chapter 51, Peacemaking (Reconciliation)
Narrated/Authority of Al-Hasan Al-Basri
By Allah, Al-Hasan bin Ali led large battalions like mountains against Muawiya. Amr bin Al-As said (to Muawiya), "I surely see battalions which will not turn back before killing their opponents." Muawiya who was really the best of the two men said to him, "O Amr! If these killed those and those killed these, who would be left with me for the jobs of the people, who would be left with me for their women, who would be left with me for their children?" Then Muawiya sent two Quraishi men from the tribe of Abd Shams called Abdur Rahman bin Sumura and Abdullah bin Amir bin Kuraiz to Al-Hasan saying to them, "Go to this man (i.e. Al-Hasan) and negotiate peace with him and talk and appeal to him." So, they went to Al-Hasan and talked and appealed to him to accept peace. Al-Hasan said, "We, the offspring of Abdul Muttalib, have got wealth and people have indulged in killing and corruption (and money only will appease them)." They said to Al-Hasan, "Muawiya offers you so and so, and appeals to you and entreats you to accept peace." Al-Hasan said to them, "But who will be responsible for what you have said?" They said, "We will be responsible for it." So, whatever Al-Hasan asked they said, "We will be responsible for it for you." So, Al-Hasan concluded a peace treaty with Muawiya. Al-Hasan (Al-Basri) said: I heard Abu Bakra saying, "I saw Allah's Apostle (SAW) on the pulpit and Al-Hasan bin Ali was by his side. The Prophet (SAW) was looking once at the people and once at Al-Hasan bin Ali saying, 'This son of mine is a Saiyid (i.e. a noble) and may Allah make peace between two big groups of Muslims through him."

that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) one day said: Do you know where the sun goes? They replied: Allah and His Apostle know best. He (the Holy Prophet) observed: Verily it (the sun) glides till it reaches its resting place under the Throne. Then it falls prostrate and remains there until it is asked: Rise up and go to the place whence you came, and it goes back and continues emerging out from its rising place and then glides till it reaches its place of rest under the Throne and falls prostrate and remains in that state until it is asked: Rise up and return to the place whence you came, and it returns and emerges out from it rising place and the it glides (in such a normal way) that the people do not discern anything ( unusual in it) till it reaches its resting place under the Throne. Then it would be said to it: Rise up and emerge out from the place of your setting, and it will rise from the place of its setting. The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said. Do you know when it would happen? It would happen at the time when faith will not benefit one who has not previously believed or has derived no good from the faith.

From: Imam Malik's Muwatta. Chapter 36, Judgements
Narrated/Authority of Zayd ibn Aslam
From: Imam Malik's Muwatta. Chapter 36, Judgements
Narrated/Authority of Zayd ibn Aslam
Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd ibn Aslam that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "If someone changes his deen, strike his neck!"
The meaning of the statement of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in our opinion and Allah knows best, is that "if someone changes his deen, strike his neck!" refers to those who leave Islam for other than it - like the heretics and their like, about whom it is known. They are killed without being called to tawba because their tawba is not recognised. They were hiding their kufr and publishing their Islam, so I do not think that one calls such people to tawba, and one does not accept their word. As for the one who goes out of Islam to something else and divulges it, one calls him to tawba. If he does not turn in tawba, he is killed. If there are people in that situation, I think that one should call them to Islam and call them to tawba. If they turn in tawba, that is accepted from them. If they do not turn in tawba, they are killed. That does not refer as we see it, and Allah knows best, to those who come out of Judaism to Christianity or from Christianity to Judaism, nor to someone who changes his deen from the various forms of deen except for Islam. Whoever comes out of Islam to other than it and divulges that, that is the one who is referred to, and Allah knows best!

Narrated/Authority of Abdullah bin Amr bin Al Aas
that Allah's Messenger (PBUH) said: On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will bring a person of my Ummah from among the people; and spread before him ninety-nine
registers (filled up with his deeds). Each of them will be as long as sight extends. Then Allah will ask him: Do you deny anything of it? Have My preserving writers treated you unjustly? The person will reply: No, my Lord. Allah will further ask him: Do you have any excuse (for not having good deeds)? He will say: No, my Lord. Then Allah will observe: Behold! We have preserved a virtue of yours with us. Today there will be no wrong with you. Then Allah will take out a slip containing the words: "There is no God but Allah and that Muhammad (SAW) is His slave and Messenger (PBUH)"; and Allah will address the person:
Bring up your weights (of this slip). The person will remark: 0 Lord! This slip (is so light in weight) that it may not be matched with these large registers. Allah will observe: You will be done no injustice. The Prophet (SAW) added: All the registers will be piled up in one scale and the slip will be kept in the other scale of the balance. (With the Grace of Allah), the scale with the registers will be raised up (due to light weight) while the scale having the slip will be the heavier as there is nothing that weighs more than the Name of Allah.
(This Hadith is sound and reported by Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah and Ahmad in his Musnad).

From: Sahih Bukhari. Chapter 54, Jihaad (Fighting for the cause of Allah)
Narrated/Authority of Anas bin Malik
Allah's Apostle (SAW) used to visit Um Haram bint Milhan, who would offer him meals. Um-Haram was the wife of Ubada bin As-Samit. Allah's Apostle (SAW), once visited her and she provided him with food and started looking for lice in his head. Then Allah's Apostle (SAW) slept, and afterwards woke up smiling. Um Haram asked, "What causes you to smile, O Allah's Apostle (SAW)?" He said. "Some of my followers who (in a dream) were presented before me as fighters in Allah's Cause (on board a ship) amidst this sea cause me to smile; they were as kings on the thrones (or like kings on the thrones)." (Ishaq, a sub-narrator is not sure as to which expression the Prophet (SAW) used.) Um-Haram said, "O Allah's Apostle (SAW)! Invoke Allah that he makes me one of them. Allah's Apostle (SAW) invoked Allah for her and slept again and woke up smiling. Once again Um Haram asked, "What makes you smile, O Allah's Apostle (SAW)?" He replied, "Some of my followers were presented to me as fighters in Allah's Cause," repeating the same dream. Um-Haram said, "O Allah's Apostle (SAW)! Invoke Allah that He makes me one of them." He said, "You are amongst the first ones." It happened that she sailed on the sea during the Caliphate of Muawlya bin Abi Sufyan, and after she disembarked, she fell down from her riding animal and died.

When Allah's Apostle reached Medina, Abu Bakr and Bilal became ill. When Abu Bakr's fever got worse, he would recite (this poetic verse): "Everybody is staying alive with his People, yet Death is nearer to him than His shoe laces." And Bilal, when his fever deserted him, would recite: "Would that I could stay overnight in a valley wherein I would be Surrounded by Idhkhir and Jalil (kinds of good-smelling grass). Would that one day I could drink the water of the Majanna, and Would that (The two mountains) Shama and Tafil would appear to me!" The Prophet said, "O Allah! Curse Shaiba bin Rabia and Utba bin Rabia and Umaiya bin Khalaf as they turned us out of our land to the land of epidemics." Allah's Apostle then said, "O Allah! Make us love Medina as we love Makkah or even more than that. O Allah! Give blessings in our Sa and our Mudd (measures symbolizing food) and make the climate of Medina suitable for us, and divert its fever towards Aljuhfa." Aisha added: When we reached Medina, it was the most unhealthy of Allah's lands, and the valley of Bathan (the valley of Medina) used to flow with impure colored water.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father that A'isha, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "There was an eclipse of the sun in the time of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, led the people in prayer. He stood, and did so for a long time. Then he went into ruku, and made the ruku long. Then he stood again, and did so for a long time, though not as long as the first time. Then he went into ruku, and made the ruku long, though not as long as thefirst time. Then he rose, and went down into sajda. He then did the same in the second raka, and by the time he had finished the sun had appeared. He then gave a khutba to the people, in which he praised Allah and then said, 'The sun and the moon are two of Allah's signs. They do not eclipse for anyone's death nor for anyone's life. When you see an eclipse, call on Allah and say, "Allah is greater" and give sadaqa.' Then he said, 'O community of Muhammad! ByAllah, there is no-one more jealous than Allah of a male or female slave of his who commits adultery. O community of Muhammad! By Allah, if you knew what I knew, you would laugh little and weep much'."

From: Sahih Muslim. Chapter 3, The Book of Menstruation (Kitab Al-Haid)
Narrated/Authority of Shaqiq
From: Sahih Muslim. Chapter 3, The Book of Menstruation (Kitab Al-Haid)
Narrated/Authority of Shaqiq
I was sitting in the company of Abdullah and Abu Musa when Abu Musa said: O Abd al-Rahman (kunya of Abdullah bin Masud), what would you like a man to do about the prayer if he experiences a seminal emission or has sexual intercourse but does not find water for a month? Abdullah said: He should not perform tayammum even if he does not find water for a month. Abdullah said: Then what about the verse in Surah Maida: "If you do not find water, betake yourself to clean dust"? Abdullah said: If they were granted concession on the basis of this verse, there is a possibility that they would perform tayammum with dust on finding water very cold for themselves. Abu Musa said to Abdullah: You have not heard the words of Ammar: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) sent me on an errand and I had a seminal emission, but could find no water, and rolled myself in dust just as a beast rolls itself. I came to the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) then and made a mention of that to him and he (the Holy Prophet) said: It would have been enough for you to do this. Then he struck the ground with his hands once and wiped his right hand with the help of his left hand and the exterior of his palms and his face. Abdullah said: Didn't you see that Umar was not fully satisfied with the words of Ammar only?

From: Sahih Muslim. Chapter 1, Faith (Kitab Al Iman)
Narrated/Authority of Said ibn al-Musayyab
From: Sahih Muslim. Chapter 1, Faith (Kitab Al Iman)
Narrated/Authority of Said ibn al-Musayyab
authority of his father (Musayyib b. Hazm) that when Abu Talib
was about to die, the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon
him) came to him and found with him Abu Jahl ('Amr b. Hisham)
and 'Abdullah b. Abi Umayya ibn al?Mughirah. The Messenger of
Allah (may peace be upon him) said: My uncle, you just make a
profession that there is no god but Allah, and I will bear
testimony before Allah (of your being a believer), Abu Jahl
and 'Abdullah b. Abi Umayya addressing him said: Abu Talib,
would you abandon the religion of 'Abdul?Muttalib? The
Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) constantly
requested him (to accept his offer), and (on the other hand)
was repeated the same statement (of Abu Jahl and 'Abdullah b.
Abi Umayya) till Abu Talib gave his final decision and be
stuck to the religion of 'Abdul?Muttalib and refused to
profess that there is no god but Allah. Upon this the
Messenger of Allah remarked: By Allah, I will persistently beg
pardon for you till I am forbidden to do so (by God), It was
then that Allah, the Magnificent and the Glorious, revealed
this verse: " It is not meet for the Prophet and for those who
believe that they should beg pardon for the polytheists, even
though they were their kith and kin, after it had been made
known to them that they were the denizens of Hell" (ix. 113)
And it was said to the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon
him): " Verily thou canst not guide to the right path whom
thou lovest. And it is Allah Who guideth whom He will, and He
knoweth best who are the guided" (xxviii, 56).
