Narrated/Authority of Amir bin Abdullah bin Zubair
narrated that his father told him that there was no more than four years between their becoming Muslim and the revelation of this Verse, by which Allah reprimanded them: "Lest they become as those who received the Scripture before, and the term was prolonged for them and so their hearts were hardened? And many of them were rebellious." [57:16]

"I said: O Messenger of Allah, And those who give that (their charity) which they give (and also do other good deeds) with their hearts full of fear." [23:60] Is this the one who commits adultery, steals and drinks alcohol? He said: No, O daughter of Abu Bakr - O daughter of Siddiq - rather it is a man who fasts and gives charity and prays, but he fears that those will not be accepted from him."
