from Rasulullah (Peace and Blessings be upon him) that he said: "The Ambiyaa (Prophet (SAW)s) were shown to me. I saw Musa (Alaihis salaam), he had a thin body, like one from among the tribe of Shanu'ah. I saw Esa (Alaihis salaam). From among all those whom I have seen, he somewhat resembled Urwah bin Masud. I saw Ebrahim (Alaihis salaam). From among all those that I have seen,I, more or less, look like him. In the same manner I saw Jibra-eel (Alaihis salaam). From among all those I had seen, he more or less looked like Dihyah Kalbi."

From: Sunan Abu Dawood. Chapter 1, Purification (Kitab Al-Taharah)
We proceeded in the company of the Messenger of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) for the battle of Dhat ar-Riqa. One of the Muslims killed the wife of one of the unbelievers. He (the husband of the woman killed) took an oath saying: I shall not rest until I kill one of the companions of Muhammad.
He went out following the footsteps of the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him). The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) encamped at a certain place. He said: Who will keep a watch on us? A person from the Muhajirun (Emigrants) and another from the Ansar (Helpers) responded. He said: Go to the mouth of the mountain-pass. When they went to the mouth of the mountain-pass the man from the Muhajirun lay down while the man from the Ansar stood praying.
The man (enemy) came to them. When he saw the person he realised that he was the watchman of the Muslims. He shot him with an arrow and hit the target. But he (took the arrow out and) threw it away. He (the enemy) then shot three arrows. Then he (the Muslim) bowed and prostrated and awoke his companion. When he (the enemy) perceived that they (the Muslims) had become aware of his presence, he ran away.
When the man from the Muhajirun saw the (man from the Ansar) bleeding, he asked him: Glory be to Allah! Why did you not wake me up the first time when he shot at you.
He replied: I was busy reciting a chapter of the Qur'an. I did not like to leave it.

I would offer my noon prayer with the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) and took a handful of gravels so that they might become cold in my hand and I placed them (before me) so that I may put my forehead on them at the time when I would prostrate. I did this due to the intensity of heat.

From: Sunan Abu Dawood. Chapter 2, Prayer (Kitab Al-Salat)
The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) rode a horse in Medina. It threw him off at the root of a date-palm. His foot was injured. We visited him to inquire about his illness. We found him praying sitting in the apartment of Aisha. We, therefore, stood, (praying) behind him. He kept silent.
We again visited him to inquire about his illness. He offered the obligatory prayer sitting. We, therefore, stood (praying) behind him; he made a sign to us and we sat down. When he finished the prayer, he said: When the imam prays sitting, pray sitting; and when the imam prays standing, pray standing, and do not act as the people of Persia used to act with their chiefs (i.e. the people stood and they were sitting).

Narrated/Authority of Jabir bin Abdullah
From: Sunan An-Nasai. Chapter 6, The Book of the Times (of Prayer)
that Jibrail came to the Prophet (saw) to teach him the times of prayer. Jibrail went forward, with the Messenger of Allah (saw) behind him and the people behind the Messenger of Allah (saw), and he prayed Zuhr when the sun had passed its zenith. Then he came to him when the shadow of a person was equal to his height, and did as he had done before; Jibrail went forward, with the Messenger of Allah (saw) behind him and the people behind the Messenger of Allah (saw), and he prayed Asr. Then Jibrail came to him when the sun had set; Jibrail went forward, with the Messenger of Allah (saw) behind him and the people behind the Messenger of Allah (saw), and he prayed Maghrib. Then he came to him when the twilight had disappeared; Jibrail went forward, with the Messenger of Allah (saw) behind him and the people behind the Messenger of Allah (saw), and he prayed Isha. Then he came to him when dawn broke; Jibrail went forward, with the Messenger of Allah (saw) behind him and the people behind the Messenger of Allah (saw), and he prayed Al-Ghadah.* Then he came to him on the second day when a man's shadow was equal to his height, and did as he had done the day before, he prayed Zuhr. Then he came to him when the shadow of a man was twice his height, and did what he had done the day before, and prayed Asr. Then he came to him when the sun had set and did what he had done the day before, and prayed Maghrib. Then we slept and got up, and slept and got up again. Then he came to him and did what he had done the day before and prayed Isha. Then he came to him when the (light of) dawn was spread (on the horizon)** and the stars were still clear in the sky, and he did the same as he had done the day before, and prayed Al-Ghadah. Then he said: 'The time between these two is the time for prayer.'" (Sahih)
*Meaning Fajr, the morning prayer.
**The Fajr prayer was elongated because the Prophet (saw) recited at length during the prayer, so that it ended just before sunrise. That defined the end of the time for Fajr, as the beginning of the time was defined by the moment when he started the first Rakah.
