Narrated: Abdullah bin Amr From Sahih Muslim
that a
man asked the Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings be
upon him) which of the merits (is superior) in Islam. He (the
Holy Prophet) remarked: That you provide food and extend
greetings to one whom you know or do not know.
that the
Prophet observed: Four characteristics made anyone who
possessed them, a sheer hypocrite; anyone who possessed one of
them possessed a characteristic of hypocrisy till be abandons
it: when he talked he lied, when he made a covenant he acted
treacherously, and when he quarreled he deviated from the
truth.
We returned from Mecca to Medina with the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him), and when we came to some water on the way, some of the people were in a hurry at the time of the afternoon prayer and performed ablution hurriedly; and when we reached them, their heels were dry, no water had touched them. The Prophet (may peace be upon him) said: Woe to (dry) heels, because of Hell-fire. Make your ablution thorough.
The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) lagged behind us on a journey. We travelled (back) and be took him; and then came the time of the afternoon prayer, and as we were going to wipe our feet he (the Holy Prophet) called out: Woe to the heels because of Hell-fire.
